Materials
• Brown wool – small amount
• Yellow wool – small amount
• Crochet hook: 3.5–4 mm
• 1 normal elastic hair tie
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
Step 1 — Cover the elastic with brown
1. Make a slip knot with brown yarn.
2. Insert the hook through the elastic.
3. Make single crochet (SC) around the elastic.
4. Continue until the entire elastic is covered.
You will need approximately 30–40 SC, depending on the thickness of your wool and elastic.
Important: Keep pushing the stitches together so there is no exposed elastic, but don't crochet so tightly that the elastic cannot stretch.

Step 2 — Make the yellow loops
Attach yellow yarn to the brown-covered elastic.
For each yellow section:
1. Insert hook into the next brown stitch.
2. Pull up yellow yarn.
3. Make a long loop about 3–4 cm long.
4. Repeat this 6–8 times in the same area.
5. Make 1 SC to secure all the loops.
6. Move to the next brown stitch.
Repeat around the elastic.
You will get something like:
6–8 yellow loops → SC → 6–8 yellow loops → SC → 6–8 yellow loops → SC
Continue until you have gone around the whole hair tie.
Step 3 — Make the yellow loops fluffy
After completing the yellow round:
• Pull each loop gently with your fingers.
• Spread the loops outward.
• If you want the thick fluffy appearance, make the loops 3–4 cm long.
• Don't cut the loops; leave them as loops.
Step 4 — Add the brown outline
Now attach brown yarn.
For each group of yellow loops:
1. Insert your hook between the yellow loop groups.
2. Make 1 SC.
3. Make another SC around the outside of the yellow loops.
4. Continue around the flower.
This brown round gives the brown border/outline.
Simple pattern to remember
Brown base:
SC around elastic × 30–40
Yellow:
(6–8 long loops + 1 SC) × around
Brown border:
SC around the outside × 1 round
Finally, cut the yarn, pull the end through, and hide it with your yarn needle.
Use thicker brown yarn and slightly thinner yellow yarn. Make the yellow loops unequal lengths (2.5–4 cm) rather than perfectly uniform. That gives the handmade, fluffy flower effect.
