Pipe cleaner craft

Materials Required

- 6–8 white fluffy pipe cleaners (chenille stems)

- 1 small red pipe cleaner for the carrot

- 1 small green pipe cleaner for the carrot leaves

- 2 small black beads or googly eyes

- Glue

- Scissors

- A small piece of white felt or cotton, if needed

- Ruler

Procedure

1. Make the Rabbit’s Body

1. Take one white pipe cleaner and bend it into an oval shape for the rabbit’s body.

2. Twist the two ends together firmly.

3. Wrap another white pipe cleaner around the oval several times to make the body thick and fluffy.

4. Shape the body into a rounded, upright form.

2. Make the Head

1. Take one white pipe cleaner and form it into a small round ball.

2. Wrap another pipe cleaner around it to make the head fuller.

3. Attach the head to the top of the body by twisting the pipe-cleaner ends together.

4. Cover any sharp or loose ends by bending them inward.

3. Make the Long Ears

1. Take two white pipe cleaners and fold each one in half.

2. Shape each into a long, rounded ear, leaving the bottom ends together.

3. Twist the bottom of each ear into the top of the rabbit’s head.

4. Bend the ears slightly outward so they stand upright, like the rabbit in the picture.

4. Add the Face

1. Glue two black beads or googly eyes onto the front of the head.

2. Use a small piece of white or pink pipe cleaner for the nose, if desired.

3. Add small pink pieces to the cheeks to give the rabbit a cute appearance.

5. Make the Arms and Legs

1. Cut or use two white pipe cleaners for the arms.

2. Bend each into a slightly curved shape and twist them onto the sides of the body.

3. For the legs, make two short, rounded pieces from white pipe cleaners.

4. Attach them to the bottom of the body.

5. Bend the ends outward to form small feet so the rabbit can stand.

6. Make the Carrot

1. Take a red or orange pipe cleaner and roll it tightly into a small cone or carrot shape.

2. Twist a small green pipe cleaner several times to make leafy carrot tops.

3. Attach the green leaves to the wider end of the carrot.

4. Place the carrot across the rabbit’s front paws and secure it with a small amount of glue or by twisting the pipe cleaner around the paws.

7. Shape and Finish the Rabbit

1. Gently fluff all the pipe-cleaner fibers so the rabbit looks soft and furry.

2. Adjust the ears, arms, legs, and head until the rabbit stands upright.

3. Make sure all twisted ends are tucked safely inside.

4. Check that the carrot is firmly held between the rabbit’s paws.

Pipecleaner dolls

Materials

4–5 yellow fuzzy pipe cleaners

2 orange fuzzy pipe cleaners

2 small googly eyes or beads

Scissors

Glue

Step 1 – Make the body

Take 2 yellow pipe cleaners.

Twist them together loosely.

Wrap them around 2–3 fingers to make a round/oval body.

Twist the ends together at the back.

Fluff the fibers so the body looks thick and soft.

Step 2 – Make the head

Take 1 yellow pipe cleaner.

Wrap it around 2 fingers several times to form a small ball.

Twist the ends together underneath.

Attach the head to the top of the body by twisting the loose yellow ends around the body.

Step 3 – Make the wings

For each wing:

Take ½ yellow pipe cleaner.

Fold it into a small elongated loop.

Twist the middle so it holds its shape.

Fluff it out.

Twist one end onto each side of the body.

Bend the wings slightly downward, like the wings in your photo.

Step 4 – Make the beak

Cut about 5–6 cm of orange pipe cleaner.

Fold it in half.

Pinch the folded end into a small triangle/point.

Twist the two ends together.

Attach it to the front of the head.

Add a tiny drop of glue if necessary.

Step 5 – Make the feet

Make two orange feet.

For each foot:

Take about 8–10 cm of orange pipe cleaner.

Bend the middle upward slightly to form the leg.

Spread the two ends forward to make little toes.

Twist/bend the pipe cleaner until it looks like a three-toed foot.

Attach the leg underneath the body.

Repeat for the other foot.

Step 6 – Add the eyes

Glue two googly eyes onto the head, slightly above the beak.

Step 7 – Shape our chicken

Finally:

Make the head round.

Make the body slightly wider than the head.

Pull the wings outward.

Bend the feet forward so the chicken can stand.

Pipecleaner dolls

Materials

5–6 red fluffy pipe cleaners

2 small black beads for eyes

1 black bead for the nose

Yellow pipe cleaner for the bow

Glue

Scissors

How to make it

1. Make the head and ears

Take one red pipe cleaner and make a small rounded loop for the head. Twist the ends together at the bottom. Shape two small loops at the top into bear ears.

2. Make the body

Take another red pipe cleaner and wind it around your finger or a pencil to form a short, thick coil. Fluff it out and attach it underneath the head

3. Add the arms

Cut or use one pipe cleaner for both arms. Bend it into a shallow U shape, then twist its middle around the body. Bend the two ends upward and round them to form the paws.

4. Add the legs

Use another red pipe cleaner. Make two short rounded loops at the bottom of the body for the legs/feet. Twist the centre into the lower body.

5. Make the muzzle

Take a small piece of red pipe cleaner and roll it into a little fluffy ball. Attach it to the front of the face.

6. Add the eyes and nose

Glue two black beads onto the face for the eyes and one black bead onto the muzzle for the nose.

7. Make the yellow bow

Take a yellow pipe cleaner and:

Fold it into two loops.

Twist the centre together.

Leave two long ends hanging down.

Wrap the centre around the teddy's neck.
